Park-Choi DEIA Lecture Series: Algorithms of Oppression: How Search Engines Reinforce Racism
The Penn Libraries is pleased to announce the first in its Park-Choi DEIA Lecture Series: a conversation with Safiya Umoja Noble, 2021 MacArthur Fellow and author of the highly acclaimed Algorithms of Oppression: How Search Engines Reinforce Racism. (Available as an "unlimited-users" eBook from the Penn Libraries.)  Noble will discuss her book, the impact of marginalization and misrepresentation in commercial information platforms like Google search, and ongoing power struggles over representation on the web. DRUMMING FOR VETERANS!
Please join the Art & Wellness Coalition for Veterans & Their Families in Philadelphia for a free drumming group aimed to support Veterans and their families in creating more community! Instruments provided. Drumming will be facilitated by Board-Certified Music Therapist and Coalition member Meryl Lammers. No previous music experience or talent required to participate. You’re welcome to bring your own drum. Doors open at 10. Café will be open for refreshments from 11-1.  Veterans will receive free admission to the museum [free admission year-round for Veterans] with presentation of Driver’s License with flag or VA issued ID.
